South Mountain Sunset
My first truly abstract painting in years, this piece is inspired by sitting in Debra's backyard at sunset. It is 5 by 13 if lined up as it was painted, but is acutally painted on 3 stretched, primed cotton canvases which are 4 x 5, 5 x 5 and 4 x 5 inches respectively

Transformation - Dagaz
This commissioned piece was created with much positive energy and focus in support of the customer's continued growth and personal transformation. Hence the various runes carved all about it, and it's name, "Dagaz" after the rune of breakthrough and transformation. It is painted on a 16" round stretched cotton canvas with curved edges
The Great Faery Boodah Mother
Camp Fire
This was painted for my Dad's birthday in honor of all the great campfires we had when I was a kid, and the love of camping he instilled in me that has me doing crazy things like camping out in Arivaca in November (never again it's freakin cold!)

Drum Circle
"Drum Circle" Is an acrylic painting on a 10 inch, round, flat canvas. It's part of the process in coming to the design I was asked to do for a friend's drum. His drum design will be very different, but other designs and ideas were floating around in my mind since then, so we bought the canvas to paint some of them until the exact design for his drum is ready. This is the first. More to come.

Spirit of a Girl
This piece came to me from a recent dream and is inspired by my favorite girl, Debra. I'm debating on whether to put a mini collage on the heart as I'd planned, or to leave it painted as it is currently but with red over the underpainting as planned over the collage. What will it be? I'll take a picture of it in process for now and we'll see what comes of it.

Venice Starway
Below is Venice Starway in process.
As you can see the underpainting is still completely showing through on the beach portion. Eventually I added a sandy textured gel gloss but I thought it was worth capturing some pics before doing so. Also some great closeups that really show the depth of color.

Technique
Yes this is a many layered project. However this one is completely done in acrylics. The first underpainting is basic watered down acrylic paints so it takes on almost a water color characteristic. Every bit of canvas was covered in some bright and brilliant color to shine through from below. Initially it was in fact 3 seperate colors. Lemon yellow, Ocean Blue, and Violet. But the underpainting itself is actually a many layered creation. I wish I had been patient enough to take pictures of it of the water color looking underpainting before I began painting the gel gloss I'd tinted. I used a heavy hard gloss gel for the overpainting so I could add texture. Before adding the gel I spatter painted white stars into the sky. The sky is a deep violet and rich crimson tinted gel and palet knifed into a thin layer over the underpainting, and intentionally removed in certain areas to more clearly show through to the brighter colors of the underpainting. The sea was done similarly with various layers and shades of green palet knifed over the blue, and eventually white mixed in with the green and painted into the waves crashing on the shore. Glow in the dark acrylic paint is brushed over the top in certain areas for a fun night time aspect even when the lights are off.

Technique and materials
This painting was done before I had many supplies. I used a combination of available things such as a sponge brush, children's paintbrush, acrylic paints leftover from crafts at a birthday party, and a canvas I found on sale. Since I am currently on disability, supplies are hard to come by. The background was wet brushed, the tree finger painted, and the figure painted last with a children's brush all with acrylic paints.
Finger painting the tree was wonderful! More adults should fingerpaint...go try it today!

What happens when you leave your shirt at Sean-Michael's house? Well, you get it back of course, but not always looking the way you left it. WEARABLE ART!?!? How fun!
