Sisters
This petite painting is only 5 x 5 inches and looks really simple, but is actually much more rich in color and meaning than it looks. The twin labyrinths are a powerful meditative force despite their tiny size.
Evil boy Sir
He speaks for himself:

11" by 14" on canvas board
Gender Labyrinth
Inspired in a vision of a much larger (life size) painted labyrinth and an experiencial un-workshop for next year's GENDERS conferance.

9" by 12" on canvas board
Invisible Path
This painting represents my path as a Queer person and how I sometimes feel when people don't see me as Queer even within the Queer community itself
16" by 20" on stretched canvas
Invisible Path In Process
There are multiple layers within this picture just as there are layers of community and identity in my life.
This painting is very personal
Technique
I started by painting white acrylic over the canvas in general to get a slightly smoother surface. Then I painted a thicker white acrylic in various designs, each with it's specific meaning. A thread "ties" the two main layers of the painting together as it outlines the queer pride triangle from the underpainting. Before painting over the entire thing I added designs in collage glue and a white needlepoint thread surrounding the outline of the triangle
The colors of the final painting are specifically chosen to represent the mixed emotions experienced on this very unique path each Queer identified person walks. I believe I counted 6 distinct steps and 4 primary layers to this painting.
From afar the triangle almost disapears into the background just as at first glance most people assume I am heterosexual despite how far from straight my life path actually has been. But the closer and more intimately you look at this canvas the more detail becomes visible

"Evil" boy Sir is my favorite yet :) I am looking forward to finishing others in the Blue Monkey Series
